AET opens Belgium's largest 'single unit parking'

Terminal operator Antwerp Euroterminal (AET) in Verrrebroek officially opened the doors of its multilevel car park on 15 September. This expansion allows AET to increase its ro-ro capacity by 25%.

Led by CEO Yves De Larivière, AET inaugurated Belgium's largest 'single unit' parking tower. The car park has a height of 19 metres, is 430 metres long, has six floors and can store 9,700 cars. On an actual area of 25,000 m², it can thus tap the capacity of 170,000m² of storage space.

For the construction of the multilevel car park, AET relied on a temporary partnership of Willy Naessens Industrial Buildings and Cordeel. The construction of the multilevel parking garage was completed in 13 months.

The smooth delivery of the building could partly be achieved thanks to the vertical integration within the Willy Naessens Group. The car park consists of concrete precast elements, which were manufactured in our own factory and delivered by truck from the production sites. The elements were then assembled on site, seven assembly cranes and two piling machines were used to put the elements in place. The car park was manufactured from 49,500 m³ of concrete 4,600,000 kg of steel.
