Fabriek Logistiek opens its doors!
Fabriek Logistiek, an initiative of the Provinciale ondernemingsmaatschappij Oost-Vlaanderen, has opened its doors. The building is located in the industrial zone Tech Lane Ghent in Zwijnaarde. Fabriek Logistiek offers companies and researchers the opportunity to try out logistic solutions in practice.
The Design & Build project by Willy Naessens Industrial Building, commissioned by the Provinciale Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij Oost-Vlaanderen (POM), opened its doors today.
Fabriek Logistiek is a Valhalla for everyone who is active in logistics and supply chain. Companies can test and compare existing and new concepts of warehouse work with their own staff and goods. The total surface area of this Design & Build project is 8,800 m². Two modularly laid-out areas with test rigs for warehouse process technology have been realised, which can be rented for short periods. The first module is 2,400 m² in size and is intended for traditional logistics processes. The second module is 2,000 m² in size and is aimed at e-commerce processes. In addition, Willy Naessens Industrial Building built a training centre that is rented to the VDAB. The training centre is divided into 2 parts: a logistics hall that serves as a practice area of 2,000 m² and also an office building of 2,400 m², with classrooms, offices and an extensive cafeteria.
Sustainable building - BREEAM
The entire project was realised with an extremely sustainable concrete structure, supplemented with concrete wall and roof elements. This choice was consciously made by the Design & Build team of Willy Naessens Industrial Building and the architectural firm AAVO, in order to achieve a high fire resistance and a large thermal inertia. The building has achieved a BREEAM Very Good label and an Excellent label in the field of techniques. VK Engineering was involved in the Design & Build team and was responsible for this certification process. In order to create increased sustainability, a great deal of attention was paid to the concept of the techniques. For this project, a conscious choice was made for a hybrid VRF water pump that combines a higher efficiency with low maintenance costs and high environmental-friendliness.
From A to Z
For this Design & Build project, Willy Naessens Industrial Building was commissioned to work out and realise everything from A to Z. In this way, Willy Naessens Industrial Building shows itself not as a coordination agency, but as a vertically integrated construction partner that carries out everything under its own management. Ranging from infrastructure, structural work, roofs, aluminium joinery and techniques. "It is the experienced people of our subsidiaries who work out every aspect with the greatest professionalism. This implies of course a total care for the customer, but also a fast and professional realisation because everyone is attuned to each other. says Thomas De Vogelaere, General Manager of Willy Naessens Industrial Building.
It is not without reason that Willy Naessens Industrial Building built this logistics building. With its decades of experience in the construction sector, Willy Naessens Industrial Building has a head start as a reliable construction partner and has excellent knowledge of the requirements of a logistics building. For the construction of a distribution centre or logistics centre, Willy Naessens Industrial Building always starts from a thorough project study. We produce all the building elements under our own management, which is reflected in a tight schedule that we follow closely. We finish all our logistics buildings and distribution centres at breakneck speed!
Fabriek Logistiek does not only show how the warehouse of the future is organised, but also what the warehouse of the future looks like!
