Project in the spotlights: SunTronics

In Sint-Eloois-Winkel, Willy Naessens Industrial Buildings is currently building a brand new company building for Suntronics. The building will have a large shed as well as office spaces.

Architect: DEMO Architecten

Total surface area to be developed: 2.500 m²

As the previous company building had become too small and did not provide enough qualitative accommodation for the now numerous employees, Suntronics decided to have a new company building built.

This was translated into a building with a large shed of 35 metres by 33 metres completely column-free, with a clear height of over 8 metres under the beams. The cover is provided by concrete TT roof elements. These will include skylights integrating smoke and heat extraction. The roof will be sufficiently load-bearing with the installation of PV panels. The end and long right façade will be fitted with large sectional doors.

At the head of the building, the offices will be designed in two storeys on top of the ground floor where, in addition to the entrance and circulation core for the offices, there will mainly be a spacious loading bay and the loading and unloading zone. As a result, the offices are elevated above the ground floor with a beautiful view of the surroundings.

The entire building is built within the principle of precast concrete construction, but materialisation was sought in order to bring some contrast to the office area opposite the shed. Concrete sandwich panels were chosen for the façade. In turn, the base and the large shed are given dark grey flint concrete panels for the façade. The eaves are provided in dark grey aluminium.
