Will this be the largest car park in the world?
Construction site AET (Antwerp Euroterminal)
Willy Naessens Industrial Buildings is currently building the largest building under construction in Belgium: a parking tower in the port of Antwerp, with 6 floors and a roof for solar panels. When completed, this project will probably be the largest parking lot in the world. Another 3.5 times the construction that is there now, and the site will be finished.
The Design and Build construction formula has been applied to this project, making Willy Naessens Industrial Buildings responsible for everything from A to Z. The project is being carried out in 3 phases:
Phase 1 has been completed (+-150,000m² of vaults). Phase 2 and 3 are currently underway (200,000m² of vaults). A total of just under 350,000 m² of vaults are involved. Phases 2 and 3 will be completed by the end of December 2024.
The cooperation with different companies within the Willy Naessens Group demonstrates vertical integration.
- Production of concrete: here there was cooperation with Concreton, Intershipping, Tripan, Structo, Megaton, Megaton Coupure and Willy Naessens Construct.
- Lighting in the building: here there was cooperation with the Technics department of the Willy Naessens Group.
AET will also attempt to place itself in the Guinness World Records Book as the world's largest parking tower.
